ANNA members Tamara Kear, PhD, RN, CNS, CNN, and Beth Ulrich, EdD, RN, FACHE, FAAN, were the featured speakers for a webinar entitled Integrating the Roles and Knowledge of Nephrology Nurses into Undergraduate and Graduate Education on March 12, 2015. This webinar explored the roles and knowledge of nephrology nurses in various practice settings and provided strategies for integrating these roles into undergraduate and graduate nursing education.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) added star ratings to the Dialysis Facility Compare (DFC) website on January 22, 2015. These ratings summarize performance data and spotlight excellence in health care quality. In addition to posting the star ratings, CMS updated data on individual DFC quality measures to reflect the most recent data for the existing measures.
To help prevent infection in people with end-stage renal disease, the Agency for Health Research & Quality (AHRQ) has developed a new resource called the AHRQ Safety Program for End-Stage Renal Disease Facilities Toolkit. Dialysis clinics can use this toolkit to prevent health care-associated infections in their patients.

On October 31, 2014, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule that will update payment policies and rates under the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) Prospective Payment System (PPS) for renal dialysis services furnished to beneficiaries on or after January 1, 2015.
