Well-Known Speakers Highlight Fall Meeting

of the American Nephrology Nurses’ Association

PITMAN, NJ — The American Nephrology Nurses’ Association (ANNA) Fall Meeting for Nephrology Nurse Managers, Advanced Practice Nurses, and Clinicians will be held October 11-13, 2002, at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Phoenix, AZ.

The program will feature general sessions, concurrent sessions arranged in tracks (Management, Advanced Practice, Clinician, and mini seminars on Pre-ESRD and Hypertension), networking opportunities, and exhibits of the latest in nephrology products and services.

Many dynamic speakers – nurses and physicians – have been invited to share their expertise. Virginia Trotter Betts, MSN, JD, RN, FAAN, a past president of the American Nurses Association, will deliver the opening address – “It Is Time for Change, We Have the Power, We Have the Knowledge, Let’s Do It! – outlining the effect of the nursing shortage on policymaking and the importance of nurses’ involvement in the policymaking arena. She also will participate in a panel discussion on how nurses can develop a political action plan.

Carolyn Buppert, CRNP, JD, author of The Nurse Practitioner’s Business Practice and Legal Guide and The Primary Care Provider’s Guide to Compensation and Quality: How to Get Paid and Not Get Sued, will present an optional pre-conference session entitled Reimbursement Strategies for Advanced Practice Nurses as well as an advanced practice concurrent session on employment contracts.

The ANNA Fall Meeting will offer up to 19.5 contact hours (15.9 for the conference and 3.6 for the pre-conference).
